La Jolla Shores

This beach is located just north of Pantai Inn and offers a perfect place for families, beginning surfers and those looking to catch some rays. Nearby there are restaurants and shopping along with bike and kayak rentals.

Children's Pool Beach

Children’s Pool Observation Walkway, San Diego, CA 92037

Originally designated as an area for children to swim, a seawall was built making it an ideal place not just for children, but also for harbor seals that now inhabit the cove.

Coronado Beach

About 30 minutes south of La Jolla across the Coronado Bridge sit the pristine beaches of Coronado. Popular for locals and families alike, the beaches in Coronado are perfect for a day at the beach and enjoying the ocean waves.

La Jolla Cove

Just around the bend from Pantai Inn at the end of Scripps Park is La Jolla Cove. With small surf in the summer months, this beach is ideal for swimmers, snorkelers and scuba divers. The water is calm and ecologically protected, providing a safe home for colorful garibaldi, yellowtail and rays.

Black’s Beach

Black’s Beach is north of Pantai Inn and is well known as the largest nude beach in the United States, while offering some of finest surfing spots on the west coast.

Mission Beach

Located in the Mission Bay Park area, Mission Beach offers a plethora of activities centered around surf, sand and sun. Skate up and down the boardwalk with some rented rollerblades or ride the Giant Dipper roller coaster until your heart’s content. Or lounge on the beach and enjoy the sunshine.

Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach offers the chance to hang like a local. Great for surfing, fishing, swimming and sitting out in the sun, Ocean Beach is south of La Jolla and is lined with bars, restaurants and shops. It also is home to the Ocean Beach Pier, the longest concrete pier on the West Coast.

Pacific Beach

Pacific Beach, or P.B. as its referred by locals, is located south of La Jolla in the Mission Bay area. In addition to its sandy beaches, which are perfect for small children and families, Pacific Beach is home to countless beach bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Shell Beach

Shell Beach is directly across the street from Pantai Inn. Take the stairs down from Scripps Park and enjoy the sand and surf. Be sure you leave only footprints and take only photographs. Please do not take away “souvenirs” from historical sites and natural areas.

Windsea Beach

Just south of Pantai Inn, Windsea Beach is primarily a beach for surfers but it does provide beautiful ocean views and amazing sunset views. Smooth sandstone rock formations provide a great place for observers to sit and watch the surfers.
